the opportunity
To reinforce the University’s competitive edge and to continue to attract and retain the best students and student-athletes, Seton Hall University prioritized the design of a high-performance athletic facility. Seton Hall engaged KSS in a 3-part renovation program for the Richie Reagan Recreational and Athletic Center completely re-envisioning many of the building's spaces. KSS was also involved in the renovation of Walsh Gymnasium, which is home to the University’s men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams. As the first permanent basketball facility to be built on the Seton Hall campus, Walsh Gymnasium is central to the University’s athletic identity and legacy.
Our Approach
University pride and branding are prevalent throughout the facility, including the new varsity locker rooms, weight and fitness rooms. The renovated center not only prioritizes physical fitness, but also academic excellence, with the addition of dedicated space for small groups and individual tutoring, providing a supportive environment for student-athletes to excel in their studies. In the gymnasium, our team completed the overall repair, replacement, reconfiguration, and refinishing of existing systems and structures. Old seating has been replaced with new seating in a ‘Seton Hall blue’ hue, including court-level chairbacks in place of existing bleachers and a new hardwood court boasts Seton Hall branding to reinforce university identity.
